Applies to: Agencies considering real estate or mortgage as a niche
Is real estate a good niche for my AI agency?
Real estate agents can be a tough niche. The market is very fragmented, and you often end up talking to people who do not have the authority to make decisions. Most agents work under a brokerage and do not control their own website. They only have a page on the brokerage's site, so they cannot build their own site, add a chat widget or change the phone number, which shrinks your pool of possible buyers a lot. Many get few missed calls, so the value of an AI receptionist, and their use of the platform, can be low. Not every real estate agent is successful either, and some do not want to buy tools. Some treat it as a hobby or got a license once to help a family member.
It can still work with a narrow product, such as an AI receptionist that answers the phone, asks whether the caller is a buyer or a seller and runs a qualification process. Know these problems before you choose it.
Real estate wholesalers do not have that limitation and are a much better fit. Mortgage and lending are also strong: there is a lot of paper chasing (tax returns, pay stubs and other documents), and an AI can chase those documents. Business funding is similar.
Votel recommends picking one niche and going hard at it, ideally the one you know best and are passionate about.
